SIGNIFICANT EXPERIENCES

Joe Leonard, in his own words, said, " I just tried to keep the 'GI out of trouble'.  I wanted to be an Air Force mechanic, but the bigs could not hear me."  Joe was a Military Policeman in the Army Air Corps.

  • He was stationed first at Fort Sheridan, Illinois, then Jefferson Barracks Missouri, then on to Pope Field, North Carolina before going to the Pacific Theater.  There he served in the Philippine Islands and when the war ended he spent time in the occupation of Japan.

  • He and his wife, Carole lived in the Estate Homes.

 

Joe Leonard passed away at Lexington in March of 2006 and his ashes will be buried in Osh Gosh, Wisconsin,  with full military honors.
