SIGNIFICANT EXPERIENCES

Sam first entered the Army Air Force in 1943 and after going through an intensive flight training program went to England as a member of the 8th Air Force and a B-17 (Flying Fortress) Bomber Pilot with 21 combat missions over Germany, with the last 11 as lead pilot.

Sam was awarded the Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters.

Sam was a member of the Lexington Veterans Association.

Sam and his wife, Joyce, lived in Sommerset Villa.         

 

 

  Sam Riggs passed away on September 24 2007.
