Barnard Casady joined the U.S. Navy in 1944 and served during WWII in the United States in the V-5 and V-12 program at DePauw University and Purdue University, then was assigned to the Naval Bureau of Supply & Accounts in Washington, D.C. until 1946 was he was honorably discharged. 

He and his wife, Shirley, lived in Sommerset Villas and also Speedway, Indiana.
