Significant Experiences

  • Participated in the Occupation of the Philippine Islands including Bataan; Corregidor; and Capitol City of Manila.  Eventually assigned to 670th Medium Port Battalion Military Control in the Port of Manila.  Following Philippine independence on July 4, 1946, the U.S. Military gradually turned over all port operation to civil authorities.  About a year later our base was being disbanded whereupon I was shipped back to the States for discharge.
