Significant Experiences

  • Attached to 51st Signal Battalion - I Corps

  • TDY to First Marine Division Tank Battalion along the Han River on the front line.  During my stay, our area was hit by a monsoon resulting in our peninsula being cut off from the mainland.  Supplies and mail were only made by a helicopter.  Duration: 3weeks.  During that time our radio operator handed me a coded message which when decrypted stated: "Restrict your firing missions".  I learned later that this was due to a dock strike in San Francisco!!!
