The Walk of Honor is a  project of the Lexington Veterans Association designed to honor not only Lexington Veterans but their veteran family members as well.  It will be located at the flag site at the Island Club.  The project was completed in phases.  Phase I is the March-April 2004 period. First Project coordinator was Vice Commander Ben Polk. The second coordinator was Past Commander Ken Taylor. The Walk of Honor consists of engraved bricks set in a pattern leading up to the flag site.  A granite memorial stone is placed just in front of the flag pole signifying the Walk of Honor. The first dedication ceremony occurred on 9-11 in 2004.  The second dedication occurred on December 7th, 2004.  Each brick costs $50 and includes the engraving and is tax deductible. Make check payable to the Lexington Veterans Association. The proceeds after cost will go toward future veterans projects.  Forms are available at the front desk of the Main Club House.  The 2009 reformulation occurred in April 2009 and was spearheaded by Past Commander Rich Hill & Commander Ron Ruff. The new configuration  consists of family clusters with single bricks laid out with WWII on the left side - Korean War on the upper right and middle - Vietnam War middle to lower right - Cold War on lower right - Iraq on lower right side. Future bricks will continue down the pathway with a next stage design in the making. In late 2010 Vice Commander Al Kuznicki was assigned the key responsibility and redesigned the whole area in cluding new landscaping, a new light, the 5 service flagpoles with plaques and the white chain fence.
